Successful training event!

We had about 15 attendees at our training event on Saturday November 4, 2023 at the Coast Life Support District building. A BIG thanks to all who attended and helped and especially to our instructors:

Peter presented on antenna basics including UHF/VHF, HF, handheld, mobile and fixed options. Click here to download his super-helpful presentation in PDF format.

Richard presented on using the Winlink system to send and receive email via your ham radio which is especially useful in a disaster if all other forms of communication are unavailable. Click here to download Richard’s Winlink presentation PDF.

Ken presented on the importance of having a quality power supply for your amateur rig and discussed battery, linear and switching power supply options. (Don’t forget those extra fuses!)

Richard presented on mounting a mobile VHF radio in your vehicle and showed a YouTube video which discussed the topic and provided great practical tips. Click here to download Richard’s presentation PDF.

Michael presented on how to function as the Net Control operator for the weekly ABARC Emergency Net held every Tuesday at 7:00 pm on the ABARC repeater (147.825 Mhz, Negative Shift PL Tone 103.5). He also offered to help anyone who wanted to volunteer by doing a dry run. If you are interested in signing up for Net Control duties, go to the Contact ABARC form and choose “Volunteer for Net Control” in the Subject field.

Again, thanks to everyone who participated in making it an educational and fun event!
